As Help is Available
The Arbuckle Historical Society is attempting to preserve the
memory of yesterday.
The history of Davis is on
display at the museum in pictures and artifacts. You can
browse for hours and not see everything. The museum
attendant will be happy to assist you in locating your particular
interests.
You will find displays on: Schools, Churches, Music, Medicine,
dentistry, Civic Organizations, Military Uniform, The Fire
department, The Police Department, Railroad Memorabilia, Farm
Implements, House Wares, Hand Crafts, Indian Culture,
Geological Formations and numerous pictures of the area.
Remodeled in 1992, the museum now has a great display of tools
lining the walls of the hallway leading to the "Territorial Room".
This one-room dwelling represents the typical frontier home. The
recent addition is a 3'x5' model of Fort Arbuckle. The fort
was located 8 miles west of Davis--1851 - 1870. The Museum
Library contains many general history books as well as family
histories. You may want to spend half a day reading or
researching your family history. The Arbuckle Historical Society
was formed in 1976, and granted a state charter January 24, 1977.
Mrs.. Artie Heiple Oakley was most instrumental in its
organization. Three books have been published by the Arbuckle
